what elements of your job interest you the most and least?
A lot of interesting answers in this thread! While I have more experience with marketing than customer support (CS), I encounter related tasks fairly often. There are definitely elements I find interesting and elements that I don’t exactly dislike, but find a bit boring or irritating.

Positive things
I like talking to people. It sounds cliched, but I do enjoy that aspect of the job. I wouldn’t last long in a job that required me to be alone at my desk, not communicating with anyone, for most of the day. Customer support may be too much of a good thing in that respect, but it’s actually rewarding when you get to help people with solvable problems.
For example, for someone who calls, the matter of rebooking a plane ticket can be literally a life-changing issue (reaching a loved one on their deathbed, making it to a long-awaited interview, etc.—I’ve heard a lot of stories!). Maybe company policy makes rebooking difficult and expensive, but someone in CS can help navigate those concerns and find a solution that works for everyone.

Negative aspects
The more negative aspects of the job tend to revolve around the repetitiveness and tediousness of certain tasks. These days, there’s CRM software and other tools available to lighten the load. But there are still some small businesses that don’t see it as a necessary investment. It can get difficult to be fast and organized in communicating with customers. When you take a long time to look up information they’ve already given, or to answer questions, the customer understandably gets impatient and irritable. And that, in turn, is frustrating for the CS employee who is already doing his/her best.

If you work in CS yourself, I hope the more enjoyable elements outweigh the bad ones! Remember, for those of us with jobs that primarily involve customer-facing tasks, a sense of humor and patience go a long way.
what elements of your job interest you the most and least?
The answer to this question will depend on two things:
The things I like and hate about my job
I’m currently working as a supervisor at a Popeye’s Chicken and Biscuits in Alexandria, LA (although sometimes I feel as if I should be working for Blurtit – I’m on here so darn much!).
There are two things that I really love about my job:
- The interaction with the public
- Working with a great bunch of people

There are also some negative aspects to working at Popeye’s, though, and my two main peeves are:
- The occasional rude customer
- The amount of cleaning that’s involved
Now that I think about it, I’d also add the fact that I’m surrounded by fried food all day – which is a bit a negative point, too.
Although I genuinely love our menu (it’s the reason I applied for a job at Popeye’s in the first place), I know that working in this environment is not doing my figure any good.
