Hi there! Do you know “does morning joe repeat the first hour” ? If not, we are going to answer it on negarinfo .

Morning Joe may be the best, most intelligent & most interesting politics news show on TV.

I say this as someone who has been extremely critical (publicly; on Twitter) of CNNNBC, and Fox. I basically think all of these networks are crap — but especially CNN. The main problems with TV news:

  • The content and people are often stupid/least-common-denominator garbage.
  • The emphasis is on political conflict — “Can you believe what Trump said?”
  • The dynamic among the talking heads is usually centered on interpersonal conflict. CNN in particular is toxic in this regard. CNN pits dopey Trump-supporter antagonists (Jeffrey Lord, etc.) against Democratic Party proxies/Trump opponents and the two groups just yell at each other.

But Morning Joe stands alone by avoiding all of these problems and by focusing intensely on important issues and intelligent analysis. Yet at the same time the show is super-entertaining. The host (former Republican Congressperson Joe Scarborough) focuses on understanding complex politics and policy issues, and he has very smart guests who really understand Washington. The overall show is pretty centrist — Joe is centrist, as are his guests. There is little ideological yelling. Some of his guests are incredibly smart, like Richard Haass, the President of the Council on Foreign Relations.

None of the guests are crazy left or right, so the dynamic on the show is “intelligent conversation” rather than “entertaining polarization and fighting.”

Until I watched Morning Joe, I had concluded that TV news was a complete waste of time, and was completely replaceable by internet news reading. But Morning Joe is so engaging, entertaining, and informative that I’m now rethinking my distaste for TV. For one thing, Morning Joe does a great job of presenting and dissecting what leaders said publicly the day before.

Oh the other great thing about Morning Joe — you only need to watch the first 20 minutes! That’s all I watch → it’s super-efficient — the first 20 minutes are important (and there are no commercial breaks). You can watch more if you want, but the meat is right up-front.

Why don’t more Californians know about/watch Morning Joe? East Coast folks watch Morning Joe a lot, but less so Californians. If you live on the West Coast, Morning Joe is a hidden gem that most of us don’t know about.

  • The show isn’t on at a normal hour for us — it only airs 6–9am ET, so you have to record it.
  • The name of the show sounds silly — like a typical lightweight bullshit morning show.
  • The show is often lumped together with CNN when people are discussing TV news.

My sense is that Morning Joe is very influential, especially during the Trump Presidency. Trump and his team watch it regularly, and I think it somewhat influences their thinking. My sense is that if Joe slams one of Trump’s team members, Trump listens and it will influence his view of that subordinate.

MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe’ Sparks Debate With Pre-Taped Broadcast

Sometimes, it just might pay to hand things over to Mike Barnicle and Katty Kay.

Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski and Willie Geist sparked a social-media tempest over the long holiday weekend after the “Morning Joe” team pre-taped the show .

that broadcast on Friday and spent opening segments talking about a Thanksgiving dinner that likely had yet to occur.

After The Washington Post reported on the incident

other news outlets followed, calling out MSNBC for running the program without more clearly identifying its nature (MSNBC did not run a “live” banner on-screen during the program).

There was no intention to trick viewers,” an unnamed MSNBC executive told the newspaper. “Would it have helped if there was a disclaimer?”

the executive asked. “Maybe. But that’s not typically done.”

Many TV-news outlets run pre-recorded material on their schedule. Bill O’Reilly’s “O’Reilly Factor” was typically recorded earlier in the day on Fox News Channel.

Why does morning joe on MSNBC repeat the first hour instead of showing the third hour?

I’m not positive on this but i have a few theories about it because they don’t do it all them time, albeit more often than not.

First, I think it might be hard to produce three hours of content every day so when they are short they do the repeat.

Also, it isn’t the whole first hour they repeat, its about 20 minutes, basically the first segment of the show up until the first commercial break.

Some days they don’t do it, like the show Friday from Chicago they didn’t do any repeats. Also, one day they had George Clooney on during that time and didn’t do a repeat.

Without fail though it is right at the two hour mark when they do it. I’m in California so I obviously TiVo it and it is frustrating because after the repeat they have a lot of commercials before they do the “Business before the bell” segment and then it is basically over.

My second theory has to do with Joe and Mika’s old schedule. They had a radio show for awhile so maybe they were planning for it or they were actually leaving a little early to go to the radio studio to prep for that show. Maybe they just kept doing it after their radio show was pulled.

Either way, I love the show and i wish they would just buck up and put in the extra 20 minutes of great programming. They have a long format with longer interviews so i think they could fill the time if they wanted to. I’m sure they weren’t considering that many people TiVo a morning news show so they probably thought people wouldn’t notice. They try to cover it by dubbing in Mika saying “it’s 8 o’clock and welcome back to morning Joe” and they just started doing this lately I’m assuming because of the complaints.

I thought I noticed the other day that they mixed in another interview during the replay to make it less noticeable, but I could be wrong. It is one of the rare shows that I dread when it is going to end, I did this with The Sopranos and haven’t liked a show this much since.
